ArjunaPaula grew up in Patagonia, Chile; immersed in the traditional native practices of the region. A South American Indian-Spaniard by birth and a fond lover of nature and animals, she was a dedicated gymnast, dancer and martial artist through her early life. She initiated practicing meditation at a young age among other forms of energy healing. As a teenager, Paula was a competitive gymnast, obtaining her first national medal at the age of 14. In her early 20’s, she became a three time national champion in group fitness. At that time, she was a regular fitness performer and dancer on Chilean Television, a lifestyle model and a well-known fitness instructor at the most respected health centers in Chile.

Paula moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2000. Dance, her first true love, was a movement meditation at its essence and adding eventually Yoga into her repertoire transformed dance into a practice that helped her find true freedom and connect with her inner self. Paula’s Yoga practice has been largely influenced by master teachers Lisa Walford (Iyengar), Vinnie Marino (Vinyasa), Dr. Larry Payne (Yoga Therapy) and Mark Whitwhell (The Heart of Yoga).

A life of dance and gymnastics associated injuries led her to specialize in Yoga Therapy Rx™ at Loyola Marymount University under the direction of Dr. Larry Payne in the lineage of Sri T. Krishnamacharya. Paula completed her Clinical Internship in at the Venice Family Clinic in Los Angeles, CA as part of her advanced clinical training in Yoga Therapy Rx™. Paula has studied Functional Movement and DNS Training with Dr. Craig Liebenson (Director of LA Sports & Spine). She is also certified in Prime of Life Yoga™ and has extensive training in soft tissue assessments and myofascial release procedures. She has been teaching the movement of the body for over 20 years including dance, fitness, aqua therapy and Yoga. Her style is preventive, functional, dynamic, safe and suitable for everybody. Paula is a Certified Yoga Therapist by the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

Paula Tapia C-IAYT, E-RYT® 500, YACEP® is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), member of the Yoga Alliance (YA) and Associate Director of the Spring “Yoga and the Healing Sciences Teacher Training” at Loyola Marymount University. She has collaborated in a study applying Yoga Therapy for Astronauts and Space Health (Mars Without Borders, UCLA, and the University of Texas). She is currently the Yoga Therapist, Mindfulness Advisor and Research Associate at Attune Health (Autoimmune and Inflammation Care and Research Center) in Beverly Hills, CA. Additionally, Paula has worked as a medical interpreter for some of the most respected physicians at Cedars Sinai Hospital and UCLA Health Centers in CA. She is a commercial dancer, lifestyle model in different countries and has been featured in several publications of Yoga.
